The ABC’s of window treatments
Grommets are a popular heading for drapery panels, valances and shower curtains. They can be made of brass, nickel and plastic and come in many finishes to match your rod.
Barry Dixon used organic linen to make grommets panels for this living room.

Jonathan Adler used grommet panels as a bed treatment and mounted the hardware to the ceiling.
The panels in my study are made with black grommets to match the black wrought iron rod and finials.
If you want to use grommets outside make sure they are made of brass so they don’t rust.

If you are going to try these I have 2 suggestions……
1. Always use an even number. I plan on 8 per width of fabric.
2. Have a big strong man with a big sledge hammer because it takes 150 lbs of force to set the large ones.
Or you could just send me your fabric and I’ll make them for you !

Those images are all so pretty!
Love the examples you show, Tammy! I like grommets in drapery, although I haven't had anyone request them yet. I really like the way drapes hang when they have grommets. Is that something that makes them more popular as a heading?
Perfect timing!! I am thinking of changing Butterballs curtains and adding grommets. I have done it on a table cloth before, it is now a shower curtain. Your examples are fabulous!!
I've always like the look in catalogues and magazines...but have a question: do the curtains really "stay put", and stay pushed back? It always looks to me as if they are pushing closed...or maybe it depends on the fabric? You can't do a tie back with these, can you??? Comments?
Mine stay open great but my rod is a little rough. As a matter of fact, they stay put so well I wouldn't recommend these if you want them to function.
love the drapes in your office!
Very nice. I've always disliked the grommet drapes I see instore. But custom is ALWAYS so nice. Thank you!
Beautiful photos, Tammy! I love the Traditional Home pic...those window treatments really make that ceiling look so high, don't they? And who could not love that over-sized chaise-bed in the center of the room? As always, your blog is FAB!
