Fabric Friday

Don’t worry, you didn’t lose half of a week………. I’m doing Fabric Friday early this week ! I just went to a seminar by Joanne Lenart- Weary of The Decorating and Staging Academy and Greenhouse Fabrics was the sponsor.

Greenhouse has beautiful embroidered linen fabrics in many color ways.

They are a wholesale distributor of fabrics including, prints, stripes, linen, suede, leather and upholstery. There is something for everyone. Joanne Lenart-Weary was a wonderful speaker and gave us a lot of information about ways to improve our business. She also spoke about how to choose colors and mix patterns with confidence. Her website has the schedule of upcoming classes, I highly recommend taking one if you can.

Blushing

Blush…. It’s not quite pink and not quite nude. I’ve had this color on my mind lately, which led me to do some reading and searching about it. I found some beautiful images that represent this romantic color well. Aren’t these peonies and macaroons SO beautiful ?

Happy Valentine’s Day

I saw this pillow on the blog come on, ilene and I really wanted to make it. I started to reconsider after she repeatedly said how many gazillion flowers it took. It’s pinned on my to do list, maybe one day I’ll get around to it ! Isn’t is adorable ?

Bringing Banding Back

“Banding” is strips of fabric sewn to the edge of draperies or valances and is a great way to bring another color into your window treatment.

I love the banding on this one by massuccowarnermiller. It makes a plain box pleated valance really pop !

We just installed this faux roman shade for a designer  in a bathroom and used 7/8” grosgrain ribbon for the trim instead of fabric.

Here’s a close up of the detail in the design…………

The pattern was repeated on the shower curtain…………..

I love the Schumacher wallpaper with the leaping zebras ! This room reminds me of the bathroom in my very first home with the black and white tile floors, except my wallpaper was straight up zebra print.

This is a sample I was working on for a roman shade, the actual banding fabric was orange and it was a great contrast to the off white Quadrille toile fabric.

The biggest decisions with banding are…. Do you want to inset it or have it on the edge ?

How wide you want it ? Most of them are between 1” and 3” wide.

I keep finding photos on my phone that I haven’t blogged yet, here’s one with a Greek Key trim that is inset.
