Goodbye Snookie Family Room

I’ve been tackling the family room one project at a time and thought I’d give you an update. You’ve heard me talk about wanting to change the paint color because BM Dark Mustard was feeling like Snookie’s spray tan ! It was such a warm color that it was too much for NC summers.

So, Mr. Stitches and I painted it SW Rice Grain. If I ever mention painting again remind me that I couldn’t walk for 2 days after, it was like a 9 hour step class !

The first thing my son said was, “Wow, it’s so clean in here !” Clean is good, right ?

Then I gave my sofa away and got this slipcovered one from Craig, you know Craigslist.

Then I switched rugs with the kitchen. I love the paisley one in there…. need to take a pic for you. Finally, the goose end table got a fresh coat of gold paint. Did I tell you how glad I am that gold and brass are coming back ?

I know what you’re thinking, “Where are the drapery lady’s drapes ?”  Well, I won a Somfy motorized drapery track at the WCAA convention and it just arrived yesterday ! I’m going to push a button and they will open and close…… awesome. But, I have to make new ones because the old ones won’t fit. You see that peacock blue sample up there ? I’m loving that color, just need to find the perfect fabric. My Christmas tree is on the right side of the window so I’ll get them made and ready to install after the holidays.

What about you….. Have you started any decorating chain reactions lately ?

Love it! I have my foyer and two guest bedrooms painted in SW Rice Grain - it's a wonderful color!

I can't wait to see the new drapes! I'm sure you're enjoying picking out a new fabric - although, I bet it's hard to narrow it down to just one!

Wow, what a difference, Tammy! I love the old color you had for the warm feeling, but I can understand how you'd want a cooler feel with the heat of Summer. New drapes! I feel like you just made these! I'm sure the new ones will be just as fabulous and congrats on winning the motorized track. That will be pretty neat to open and close them at the touch of a button.

Love it love it Tammy: yes, very clean and fresh. And the sofa, and the rug, and the curtains-to-come: all are a great change!

My first thought when I saw your "Snooki" room was how warm and pretty it was, then I read that you wanted a room that was not so warm. Success! Nice job, especially loving your table. (Although I'd take your former rug off your hands any day, love that!)

Tammy,
Were you in Louisville too? I can't believe I missed you! I would've loved meeting you in person finally. Can't wait to see your new motorized draperies! I love the Somfy line of tracks.
