Installation of the week

I took an unexpected blogging break but now I’m back and ready to catch up with all of you.

These draperies are an example of a semi custom treatment.  My client bought white silk ready made panels and 3 yards of orange silk.  I made a 2” banding and applied to the leading edges of the panels.  The banding is inset 1” from the edge.

I also sewed two panels together so they are nice and full, now she has a custom look at a fraction of the price.

In her bedroom I made a custom bed and she needed a custom roman shade to fit the arch window.  My installer and I made a template of the window and my woodworking man made a beautiful arched board.

I was at Tobi Fairley’s new blog this morning (It’s beautiful, check it out if you haven’t already!) and found out that Essie has named one of their new fall colors after my blog, wasn’t that so nice of them !

You're a girl after my own heart! As I guess you've just seen on my blog, I love the idea of adding banding to drapery to make it more custom, less "off the shelf". That zip of orange looks great with the taupey tan, cream, and metallics. I also am a bit smitten with the bedroom. The taupe & champagne with the pale lilac is very pretty. And the bed looks amazing, btw! I like the shimmer fabric- not too sparkly, very glam. And those polka-dot pillows are so fun without being over-the-top- a great balance! I bet that nail head job was really tedious. They look great, though. Nice work!

Great installation and addition to the ready-mades! It almost seems like as much work to make over sometimes....but your results turned out beautifully. I'm sure your customer was thrilled. Her room looks great!

Good to see you. I love the idea of the very expensive look for less. Beautiful!

Love banding!..even do it on custom made from scratch panels, but it's such a classy way to upgrade ready-mades! Love it!

I love everything! The drapes are gorgeous, and the roman shade is so unique. I love the fabric they (you?) chose. Did you make the pillows in the living room too? The fringe is perfect with the drapes.

Have a great weekend!
