Deck the Halls

THE MANTLE : The day after Thanksgiving is when the Christmas decorations start going up at our house. There's our sweet pup, Zoe wearing her Christmas bell. I added two things to the mantle this year....... the greenery and...........

the Eddie Ross wreath that is all over blogland. You know we had to make one too ! My son and I ran into Goodwill one day and found some boxes of ornaments for $1.25 so we pretty much had to make it.

THE TREE: I finally gave in a couple of years ago and got an artificial tree that is prelit. It is so nice to still have needles on the tree by Christmas day. I only do one tree so it has all the ornaments on it, the kids and mine. I think I'll do a post of my favorite ornaments this week. The ornaments must be put on while singing in your loudest, most off key voice, "Oh Christmas Treee, Oh Christmas Treee, I love to dec-o-rate you !"

The tree skirt is something I made a few years ago from scraps of tapestry and braided cording.

THE STAIRS: Mr. Stitches was in charge of wrapping the stairs in greenery and lights. He also hung some icicle lights and a wreath outside.

THE VILLAGE: I've had this village for a really long time and my son had fun putting it out this year. He arranged everything just the way he wanted it.

THE NATIVITY: And here's the reason for the season, baby Jesus in the manger with Mary and Joseph and the three wise men.

I hope you've had as much fun looking as I had decking ! (does anybody know what that means ?)

I'll be linking up to some wonderful sites, be sure to check them out.

I have the same Village! I love to see how others display their Colonial Village. I began collecting it when I was in college and inherited some pieces from my mom's collection that joined mine this year. We just put some of them out tonight and will finish this week! I wish you a Merry Christmas!

Very pretty, Tammy! I like how you decorated your dog, too! : ) I have so much village stuff, but don't put it out every year ~ this is one of those years.

Your house looks so festive. I didn't put up my Christmas village this year-too lazy, but now that I see yours, I may have to do it. Your staircase looks pretty too. I think my greenery is a little to wimpy-yours looks so lush.

Thanks for the sweet comment you left on my blog today. I truly appreciate it.

Your decorations look great! I enjoyed seeing them. Looks like a lot of work!
I wanted to make on of those ornament wreaths, but I just didn't want to spend the extra money for the ornaments. (maybe on clearance after Christmas) :)

Everything looks great! I do mine right after the house empties on Thanksgiving Day. Did you know my dog is named Zoe too. I decided to get a dog for my daughter's 14 birthday, A INSIDE DOG, something my husband would never agree to...So it had to be a grown dog. The names of our pets have always been a big deal, so we decided on a name even before finding the dog. My sister calls me wanting me to come see some shih tuz puppies that she was keeping for a friend. I stood firm on the house broke dog , NO PUPPY. She then says the friend was not pleased with the puppies(they had blue eyes) so she would probably let the mother go...I fell in love with the mother and asked what her name was and she said "Zoe", the name we had already picked! Yes, I bought the mother!

The lamps...remember my post where I got a great deal on some Aidan Gray lamps? They were great, but too tall. I ended up trading with a friend. They are also A.G. lamps but not as tall. I had them in my living room, but they were getting lost in there, so I brought more lamps and put the A.G. lamps in my guest room. Thanks
